Following the 2016 election, House Minority Leader Paul Thissen announced he would not seek re-election as the House DFL caucus leader. Representative Melissa Hortman, DFL-Brooklyn Park, was elected by fellow members to lead them, and she talks with Shannon about the DFL priorities for the 2017 session.
More than a quarter of a million adults and children in Minnesota live with a mental illness. In the spring of 2016, Governor Mark Dayton established a Task Force on Mental Health to look for ways to improve mental health services across the state. Claire Wilson, Assistance Commissioner of the Department of Human Services, and task force member Representative Roz Peterson, R-Lakeville, review the recommendations of the task force.
